5 Awesome Hobbit Gift Ideas

5-awesome-hobbit-gift-ideasWell it's that time of year again and the holidays are approaching quickly. Maybe you've already started looking for some gifts and maybe you haven't. Today, I'm going to try and help you by suggesting 5 really cool gift ideas (Hobbit-themed of course).

1. Sting Replica

One of the things that J.R.R Tolkien's books are best known for are the weapons, particularly the swords. The sword pictured to the left is manufactured by United Cutlery which makes a lot of swords from the Tolkien legendarium (including Thorin's Orcrist). This would definitely make a cool gift for someone who enjoys collecting these kinds of things (but I understand that weapons aren't everyone's cup of tea).

2. The Original Animated Hobbit Film

The animated version of the Hobbit was originally released as a made-for-TV movie in 1977 on NBC. It was animated by Topcraft which later became the famous anime company Studio Ghibli. This is definitely an awesome gift for collectors.

3. The Desolation of Smaug Soundtrack

One of my favourite things about The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was the soundtrack. Howard Shore has made magnificent music for the Tolkien films and I personally think that he's one of the best composers in the movie industry today. I have no doubt that he will live up to his previous work with the DoS soundtrack. The soundtrack officially releases on December 10, but you can pre-order it now.

4. Thorin's Map

I love the props in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Some of my favourite props are the maps. They're really well designed and I find that they really help to immerse you in Tolkien's world. Thorin's map would make a great Christmas gift for any Tolkien fan this year.

5. The Contract

Probably one of the most memorable moments of the first Hobbit film for me is Bilbo running to catch up with Gandalf and the dwarves with the signed contract in his hand flapping in the wind. Definitely a cool gift for any Hobbit fan out there.
