Artist creates watercolor comic from Tolkien's 'Ainulindalë'

It’s safe to say that interest in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien has been steadily on the rise ever since Peter Jackson began bringing The Lord of the Rings books to the screen. It would stand to reason that Jackson’s undertaking of The Hobbit has furthered that interest.

One artist, Evan Palmer, has taken his love for one as-yet-unadapted Tolkien work and turned it into something quite extraordinary. The opening of The Silmarillion is called The Ainulindale and it tells the story of the creation of Middle-earth. Palmer has created a watercolor comic rendition of this genesis tale, and the first few pages are available to view on his Tumblr page.

Really gorgeous renderings here. Take a look at a few of the pages and let us know what you think.

Does Palmer's artwork inspire you to read 'The Silmarillion?'
